In maths this week, we have been learning about how to gather information and use it to make a bar chart.
We used tally marks to make it easier to count the numbers. They gave us a very quick way of counting up in 5s. Our investigation questions was: When is your birthday?
We gathered all of the classes birthdays and made them into a bar chart to show how many birthdays were in each month. The chart had to have a scale on the vertical axis and labels on the horizontal axis. It also had to have a title to tell us what the information was all about.
When we had made the chart, we had to count the tally marks and draw the bar going to the correct number on our chart.
Today was our last day at Parkour! We were set a challenge to use all of the skills that we have learned and we had to get from one side of the room to the other side of the room. The tricky thing was we had to try to do it without touching the floor. Then to make it even trickier we were aiming to do it 200 times in 15 minutes!
We worked together to complete the challenge and… we did it!!

This week we have been learning about shapes. We have learned about 2D and 3D shapes at the start of the week and we did a quiz to name them. The 2D shapes we learned about were octogon, hexagon, pentagon and quadrilaterals. We learned about how to count the faces, edges and vertices of 3D shapes and we learned the names of some 3D shapes. We learned about cubes, cuboids, cones, pyramids (square based and triangle based) and lots of other shapes!
We finished the week by learning about Escher and making tiling/tessellating patterns.
This morning in Sports, we were playing Cat Chases Mouse! We were practising changing direction quickly, team work and moving quickly. It was great fun! Then we practised attack and defense and we had to take a turn of being in attack or defense. Each defender had a bottle that they had to try to keep upright. The attackers were trying to use balls to knock over the bottle. We thought it was more fun to be the attacker!

Today at the start of the lesson we talked over everything that we have learned from the start of us going to Parkour. We learned how to challenge ourselves but to think about what level of challenge was right for us. We were working in pairs and threes to give each other instructions using the words:
The last challenge we did was The Floor is Lava, we had to get from one end of the space to the other without touching the floor. After we had tried it a few times, we had to make rules for ourselves to make it trickier. Some of the rules were:
- Try to floss while balancing
- Only use metal
- Use every box
- Try to use all of the higher bars
- Only touch wood

We were learning about how scientists read circuit diagrams using symbols for different things like cells and wires. We learned that when there are 2 cells together it is called a battery. We learned the symbols for different components that we can put in a simple circuit.
When we turn a switch on it connects the metal so the electricty can flow around the circuit. When the switch is off, the circuit is broken so there is nowhere for the electricty to flow.
We also learned about conductors and that metal conducts electricity. Things like wood are insulators and electricity can’t flow through them.
We are going to design games using electric circuits!
