C6 Ealain/ Art 19.5.20 A’ cleachadh inneal-seallaidh/sealladair agus a’ sgeidseadh

Using a viewfinder and sketching

Tha sinn ag ionnsachadh sgeidse a dhèanamh.

We are learning to sketch using a viewfinder tool.

  • Is urrainn dhomh inneal-seallaidh a dhéanamh
  • Is urrainn dhomh inneal-seallaidh a chleachadh gus mo chuspair a chur air dòigh
  • Is urrain dhomh loidhnichean peansail a chleachadh gus mo chuspair a tharrain
  • I can make a viewfinder
  • I can use a viewfinder to arrange my subject
  • I can use lines in pencil to sketch my subject

‘S e inneal-seallaidh ceàrnag no cumadh ceart-cheàrnach air a dhèanamh bho pìos no pìosan cairt/ pàipear tiugh aig ceàrn ceart. Tha e a’ toirt comas dhuinn rudan fhaicinn le bhith gan dealachadh ann an ceàrnag/ ceartcheàrnach. Faodaidh tu a chur faisg air làimh gus rudan fhaicinn gu mionaideach no a chumail nas fhaide air falbh airson seallladh nas motha. Nuair a bhios sinn a’ cleachadh inneal-sealladh bidh sinn gu mòr ag amas air na tha anns a’ cheàrnag no ceart-cheàrnach.

A viewfinder is a square or rectangle shape made from a piece or pieces of card/thick paper at right angles. It enables you to see things by isolating them in a square /rectangle. You can place it close up to things to see things in detail or further away for a larger view. A viewfinder makes us look a bit closer at things. When we use a viewfinder we really focus on what is in the square or rectangle.

Faodaidh tu cluich le bhith a’ coimhead tron inneal-seallaidh agad. Faodaidh e do chuideachadh gus diofar sheallaidhean fhaicinn. Faodaidh tu an uairsin sgeidse a dhèanamh de aon shealladh air pìos pàipear no anns an leabhar sgeidse agad.

You can play around looking through your viewfinder. It can help you to see different viewpoints. You can then make a sketch of one view on your paper or in your sketchbook.

A’ dèanamh inneal-seallaidh. Feumaidh tu; cairt no pàipear nas tighe, siosar, teipichean no criomagan pàipeir.

Making a viewfinder. You will need; some card or thicker paper, scissors, tape or paper clips.

Tha seo na eisimpleir de dhealbh iomaill de chuid de rudan. Tha loidhne a’ bhuird air a bheil na rudan a’ suidhe cudromach cuideachd.

This is an example of an outline drawing of some objects. The line of the table they sit on is important too.

Ma tha sinn a’ sgeidseadh a-muigh, bidh sinn uaireannan a’ coimhead airson loidhne na fàire gus cuideachadh le ar dealbh a chur air dòigh.

If we are sketching outdoors we sometimes look for the horizon line to help us arrange our picture.

C6 Ealain/ Art 12.5.20 My Magical Invention

Leonardo da Vinci (1452 –1519) made lots of sketches of ideas for making new things. Many of his inventions have been built in modern times and when tested they actually worked. I would like you to use your imagination and transform an ordinary object so that it can do something special, perhaps even magical.

This ordinary alarm clock might be turned into a computer with sensors that could recognise changes in the environment. So if it was light sensitive, it could wake me up at the exact time the light or sun came through my window each morning. Or, might it be a projector and it would play films on my bedroom wall at night?

Your task

  • Choose something, anything to make into a computer.
  • Give it a name,
  • Draw your new, magical computer in action. It would be great to see you in action operating your magical invention!
  • Tell us what happens when you press the ‘on’ button.

Remember that computers have sensors that can recognise changes in the environment. Label any sensors on your invention and tell us what they do.

Sensors can be sensitive to things like temperature, moisture, vibration or orientation. Your computer might even be connected to the internet or an app!

C6 05.05.20 Ealain- Art Cruthaich portraid dhìot fhein

A’ suidhe ann an àite cofhurtail agus coimhead ri fòn, tablet no sgàthan. Cuir air dòigh sgàthan agus tarraing dealbh dhìot fhèin. Dean cinnteach gu bheil an solais a’ tighinn bhon aon taobh

Sit comfortably and look into a phone, tablet or mirror. Arrange a mirror image and draw a self portrait. Make sure the light is coming from one side.

Roinn pìos paipear, a’ deanamh aon taobh dorcha.

Divide the paper making one side dark.

Roinn d’ aodann ann an dà leth bho mhullach sìos chun bhonn cuideachd. Bidh an loidhne air an dhuiiilleag sa mheadhanail agus bidh do shron sa mheadhan cuideachd.

Divide your face into two halves with your nose down the middle too.

An uairsin sgeidse air aon taobh le peansail agus air an taobh eile le loidhnichean tòrr nas duirche.

Then sketch on one side with a pencil and on the other side with lines much darker.

Cùm an taobh dorcha dorcha agus an taobh soilleir soilleir.

Keep the light side light and the dark side dark.

Is urrainn dhut peansail, peann, inc, crèidhean , pastailean no rud sam bith a chleachdadh.

You can use a pencil, a pen, ink, a crayon, pastels or anything to draw with.

C6 28.04.20 Ealain-Art Drawing a 3D Object

Ten steps to success in drawing a 3D object in space with a pencil

Think about where you place the object in relation to light.

Think about how close or how far you are away from the object.

Think about how much detail or not you want to draw.

Make a plan of how your object fits on to the page.

Think carefully about how dark or light all the space around your object is.

Start with very light marks to place the object and space on the page.

Make a variety of different textures and marks with your pencil.

Gradually make darker marks and darker lines.

It’s ok to rub things out or use the rubber as a drawing tool to take marks away

Relax, take your time, look closely and enjoy yourself!

The 5cm cube in the photo was placed in the centre of the page and on a whiteboard and in the sunlight.

Make a drawing of a place in your house that is packed full of objects. A cupboard or a shelf in your bedroom or the cupboard under the sink or in the kitchen or bathroom. Try to create a drawing that has depth, atmosphere, light and shade. Make sure you draw the object big enough to allow you to show their form through careful observation and skilled use of your pencil.

All classes, ask an adult to take a photo of your artwork to send to school to share on school twitter!

C6 31.03.20 Ealain-Art Anamanachd

Cruthaich figear anamadach!

Create an animated figure

  • Cleachd am bòrd-geal agus am peann-dubh agad
  • Anns gach bogsa, cruthaich dealbh de figear a bhios a’ gluasad
  • ‘S dòcha gun urrainn dhut dealbhan ann an figear anamadach a chruthachadh ann an ‘leabhar-flip’
  • Use your whiteboard and black pen
  • In each box, draw a picture of a moving figure
  • Perhaps you can create moving pictures in a ‘flip book’

Search online for ‘flip book animation’ to find lots of new ideas for drawing animated figures!
